This role is part of our Space and Launch business, which has contributed to the nations space programs for decades by delivering complete solutions from concept to flight. We enable successful space operations with mission-critical technology supporting every step from first launch to final landing, including launch vehicle subsystems, propulsion systems, aerodynamic and interstage systems, and payload protection and deployment. Our high-performance solutions are engineered to operate in the most extreme environments and meet precise mission requirements.

The CNC Machinist - 3 axis supports production operations on a first shift schedule by preparing tooling and materials, coordinating efficient CNC machine setups, and producing high precision components. The role partners closely with programmers and management to optimize workflow, uphold quality standards, and ensure that manufactured parts meet customer requirements and support product safety.

Responsibilities Evaluates potential impacts of product failures on customer requirements. Maintains and implements AS9100 procedures and supports continuous improvement initiatives. Maintains a clean and organized work environment. Performs general maintenance and cleaning of CNC machines. Cleans and properly stores machine fixtures. Works with management to prioritize machine schedules. Collaborates with programmers to minimize setup and manufacturing time. Operates CNC machines to manufacture components. Reports recommendations or concerns affecting quality or time management to management. Overhead crane knowledge Performs additional duties as required.

Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Adequate years of CNC equipment operation experience as determined by Karman. Detail oriented, organized, and able to communicate effectively with all levels of management. Experience with Siemens, Fanuc, Heidenheim, and Fidia controls. Strong blueprint interpretation and understanding of GDN&T requirements Thorough understanding of machine setups, tooling, and cutters. Ability to communicate directly with internal customers. Training in applicable changes and customer requirements. Knowledge of Quality Management System (QMS) reporting, record keeping, and process adherence. Knowledge of overhead crane.

Physical Requirements Constant standing, walking, or sitting for at least eight hours. Occasional pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying up to 50 pounds, minimum of 20 pounds. Sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate keyboards and other equipment. Ability to see clearly at approximately 20 inches or less; corrective lenses may be used. Prolonged periods of repetitive movement. Constant holding, grasping, turning, or handling with the hands. Occasional reaching overhead, at shoulder level, and below shoulder level.
