CNC setup machinist Superior Machining - 2.9 Fremont, CA Job Details Full-time $20 - $30 an hour 2 hours ago Benefits Paid time off Qualifications Machine setup 5S Machining tool setup Attention to detail Milling machines Mechanical troubleshooting Full Job Description Job Summary Superior Machining is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented CNC Setup Machinist to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for setting up CNC verticle milling machines for production, selecting and installing tooling, establishing work offsets, performing first-piece verification, and ensuring jobs are ready to run safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate is hands-on, dependable, comfortable working from blueprints and job travelers, and able to troubleshoot setup and machining issues with minimal supervision. Responsibilities Set up CNC milling machines for production jobs. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, tolerances, and job travelers. Install and qualify tooling, fixtures, vises, and workholding. Set tool lengths, work offsets, and machine parameters. Perform first-piece inspection using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other inspection equipment. Make tool, wear, and offset adjustments as needed to maintain dimensional requirements. Load and verify CNC programs prior to production. Troubleshoot setup, tooling, workholding, and machining issues. Work closely with programmers, machinists, quality, and production leadership. Help reduce setup times and improve machine utilization. Maintain organized tooling and work areas in accordance with 5S standards. Follow all safety and quality procedures. Qualifications Previous CNC mill setup experience required. Strong understanding of machining practices, cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and workholding. Ability to read mechanical drawings and understand tolerances. Experience using precision measuring equipment. Ability to work independently and solve machining problems. Familiarity with G-code and M-code preferred. Experience with 3-axis machining Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
