Job Description

CNC MachinistPosition Overview We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to operate and set up CNC milling machinesprimarily Haas millsto produce highprecision components for the aerospace industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for interpreting engineering drawings, performing machine setups, running programs, making minor program and tooling adjustments, and ensuring parts meet strict dimensional and quality standards. This role supports production schedules, continuous improvement initiatives, and compliance with aerospace quality requirements.

Key ResponsibilitiesSet up, program, and operate CNC milling machines (Haas preferred) to produce precision parts to print and tolerance.

Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T to determine machining operations and sequence.

Perform machine setups including fixturing, tool selection, offsets, and workholding; verify setups with fixtures and gauges.

Execute CNC programs, perform inprocess inspection using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and CMMs where applicable, and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality.

Troubleshoot machining issues, adjust feeds, speeds, and tool paths, and collaborate with programmers/engineers to optimize processes.

Maintain accurate production documentation, job travelers, and inspection records in accordance with aerospace quality standards (AS9100) and company procedures.

Participate in root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve yield, cycle time, and tool life.

Ensure safe operation of equipment, maintain a clean work area, and follow all safety and shop floor protocols.

Qualifications3+ years of experience as a CNC Machinist with handson experience setting up and running Haas milling machines.

Experience in aerospace manufacturing or working to aerospace quality standards (AS9100) is highly desired.

Proficient reading of blueprints, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and interpreting engineering drawings.

Strong setup skills including fixturing, tooling selection, offsets, and firstarticle inspection.

Familiarity with Gcode, conversational programming, and CAM systems; ability to make minor program edits and optimize tool paths.

Skilled with measurement and inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, dial indicators); experience with CMMs is a plus.

Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and commitment to high quality standards.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work flexible shifts as required.

High school diploma or equivalent; technical school training, vocational certificate, or apprenticeship in machining is preferred.
