Full-time, 10 hour work days M-TH 1:00 pm to 11:30 pm, Over Time may be required on Fridays and/or Saturdays This position may require you to be available to work evenings and weekends. Employee may be required to work overtime.

Lap Team Leader Job Summary:
Performs all necessary duties including honing, polishing and deburring, for the match fitting of sleeves and spools per Blue Print, MQI, or Verbal Instructions. Experience preferred but not required. Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Ensures first article certification check sheet instructions are adhered to and checked off for each paragraph Ensures all applicable documents i.e. Blue Prints., MCP sheets; Lap Assembly Inspection Records are included with the Job traveler. Ensures that Traveler instructions are followed with Blue print, MCP sheets and or other supporting data. Ensures the component quantities issued, correlate with the Job traveler quantities. Sets up and calibrates both Digital and Analog Western Gage Micro Air gauging, Universal Air gauging and Chamber gauging and Mikrokators. With supervision understand how to check for minimum / maximum material condition for both sleeve and spool. With supervision sets up and calibrates Sunnen PG 700 and PG 800 gages. Sets up Sunnen Auto stroke Hone Machines and Sunnen Manuel Hone Machines. With supervision understands the capability (range for size) of each Hone mandrel and the assembly of mandrels to adapters, stone retainers, stones and their capability for surface finish. The ability to distinguish when to use a K verses a BL or L mandrel and or a Soft or Hard mandrel. With supervision and training understand how to Identify and trouble shoot: Taper, Bow, Bell mouth, Out of round condition, Waviness, Washout around cross holes or EDM slots or Metering edges, and surface finish issues. With supervision and training understand the best processes for the removal of burrs inside sleeve without causing washout or marring meter edges or other sealing surfaces. With supervision and training understand how to blend edges of spools Per Blue Print or how to remove a feather burr to allow a sharp edge for trim grind purposes. Ensures that all sleeves and spools have stabilized in a temperature controlled environment before final layout of spools or match fitting is commenced. Understands the different grades of Diamond and Aluminum Oxide Lapping compounds how to mix them and the surface finished they produce. Ensures that all gauging surfaces, Rings, Probes, sleeves and spools are clean and free from FOD. Both while gauging and assembling. Responsible for complying with the Company Policies and Quality System Standards. Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Minimum Qualifications Skills and Education Requirements:
Hone and deburr experience preferred but not required. Training will be provided. Knowledge and interpretation of Blueprints preferred but not required. Must be proficient with basic math and writing skills.
Ability:
Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
  • Keen eye hand coordination.
  • Ability to concentrate on small work areas. Ability to perform a variety of tasks and changing assignments on short notice.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods of time, bend, stoop, sit, and walk as required.
Work with hand held tools for extended periods.
  • Able to use calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
Relationships:
Contact with Production Management, Hone department, Assembly and Test, Final Grind, Deburr, Tool Maker and Inventory Supervisor.
Working Conditions/Environment:
Works in a temperature controlled environment. Uses lapping compounds, solvents, compressed air and oils.
