These roles are essential to meeting rising demand and managing a growing backlog of intricate precision projects. We are looking for skilled CNC machinists who thrive in a fast-paced job shop setting, where they can manage frequent setups, tackle complex parts, and work with a high degree of autonomy. We invite mid-level to advanced setup machinists to apply, provided they are ready to take full ownership of their machines, perform independent setups, resolve technical challenges, and consistently deliver high-precision components. Available Positions CNC 5-Axis Setup Machinist Set up and operate sophisticated 5-axis CNC equipment to manufacture complex, multi-surface parts for the aerospace and defense sectors. You will be responsible for independent setups, defining tooling and work offsets, validating jobs, making necessary refinements, and resolving any machining challenges. CNC Mill 3-4 Axis Setup Machinist Manage the setup and operation of large-format 3-axis CNC machining centers for complex, high-precision components. Success in this role requires expert fixturing and setup skills, proficiency in blueprint interpretation, and the ability to maintain strict dimensional accuracy on large parts throughout long production runs. CNC Lathe Setup/Operator Operate and set up CNC turning centers to produce close-tolerance aerospace and defense parts. You should be proficient in managing tooling, workholding, offsets, first-piece verification, and making autonomous adjustments during the machining cycle. Core Responsibilities Execute CNC setups independently using blueprints, programs, and technical documentation. Help maintain efficient production flow by performing frequent changeovers in a high-mix environment. Mount and indicate all necessary fixtures, vises, jaws, and tooling. Configure tool and work offsets while making precise adjustments at the machine. Interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications. Validate new jobs to identify and resolve potential issues with tooling, workholding, or dimensions. Help ensure total quality by performing first-piece and in-process inspections with precision tools like micrometers and bore gauges. Observe machining processes and modify offsets, feeds, and speeds to maintain optimal performance. Resolve dimensional, tooling, or workholding issues with minimal oversight to keep production moving. Support the team in meeting rigorous aerospace and defense quality standards. Collaborate with quality teams, programmers, and engineers to improve production processes and resolve technical hurdles. Qualifications Demonstrated experience in CNC machining and setup within a precision manufacturing setting. Capacity to perform setups autonomously without needing dedicated support staff. Experience in a job shop or high-mix environment with frequent setup changes is highly valued. Solid understanding of blueprint reading and GD&T principles. Proficiency in utilizing precision inspection and measuring tools. Deep knowledge of machining fundamentals, including speeds, feeds, offsets, and workholding. Ability to diagnose machining issues and implement effective adjustments at the machine. Background in aerospace, defense, or medical manufacturing is preferred for high-tolerance work. We offer roles ranging from mid-level to highly advanced setup machinists based on your technical expertise and equipment history. Why Join the Team? Joining this company means becoming part of a precision machining organization experiencing a phase of rapid expansion. The influx of new OEM contracts is driving significant work into the facility, necessitating the addition of skilled talent to our machining department. Unlike repetitive operator roles, this position offers a high-mix job shop environment where you will handle complex setups, challenging parts, and tight tolerances, giving you real ownership over your work. For those who enjoy the technical challenge of solving machining problems and working on advanced aerospace and defense components, this role offers the perfect opportunity to utilize and grow your professional skills.
