Machinist Location:
Santee, CA $25.00•$35.00 per hour
Schedules:
6 AM•2:30 PM 2:30 PM•11 PM Not Everyone Gets Microns. You Do. Responsibilities Set up, adjust, and operate manual and CNC machines such as mills, lathes, and grinders. Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and job orders to determine machining operations. Select proper tooling, fixtures, and machine settings based on material and job specifications. Inspect parts throughout production using precision measuring instruments like micrometers, calipers, and gauges. Maintain tight tolerances and quality standards while meeting production timelines. Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot issues as needed to minimize downtime. Record production data accurately, including work completed and materials used. Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and quality teams to resolve production or quality concerns. Follow all safety protocols, including proper PPE usage and safe machine operation. Keep work area clean, organized, and in line with lean manufacturing or 5S practices. Requirements High school diploma or GED required; technical school training or machining certification preferred. 2+ years of machinist experience in a manufacturing or production environment. Skilled in blueprint reading, shop math, and use of precision measurement tools. Experience with manual machines, CNC mills, lathes, or similar equipment (brands like Haas, Mazak, Okuma a plus). Understanding of different metals, materials, speeds, feeds, and machining best practices. Strong attention to detail, ability to work independently, and solid troubleshooting skills. Basic computer literacy for machine operation and production documentation. Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for long periods. Flexible to work overtime or multiple shifts based on production needs. Reliable, safety-conscious, and committed to continuous improvement.
