CNC Mill Machinist Job Description This role is ideal for a highly experienced CNC Mill Machinist who thrives in an industrial manufacturing environment and enjoys taking parts from blueprint to finished product with minimal supervision. You will work primarily on CNC mills in a job-shop setting that supports specialized melting furnace components for the specialty steel industry. The position focuses on independent setup, programming, and machining of precision parts using Fanuc controls, while consistently holding tight tolerances and ensuring high-quality output on the first shift. Responsibilities Set up and machine parts from start to finish with minimal supervision, taking full ownership of each job. Interpret complex blueprints, drawings, and technical documentation to determine machining strategies and requirements. Program, edit, and transfer CNC programs using Fanuc controls, including writing and modifying G-code and M-code. Cut and prepare soft jaws for custom work-holding setups tailored to specific parts and jobs. Identify and select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds based on material type and job requirements. Machine components to exact specifications while maintaining tight tolerances, including holding +/- .002 when needed. Inspect and verify part dimensions using basic measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and related equipment. Perform preventive maintenance on CNC and related equipment and follow all company safety protocols. Collaborate with team members to resolve machining, setup, or programming challenges and support continuous improvement. Perform secondary operations on manual machines, including manual lathes and mills, as required. Operate drilling and tapping machines and perform milling, drilling, and tapping operations as needed. Conduct changeovers and machine setups efficiently to support a job-shop environment with varied work. Adhere to production schedules while maintaining quality standards and documentation requirements. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience operating overhead and jib cranes. Familiarity with forklifts, scissor lifts, or boom lifts in a manufacturing environment. Experience with CNC machining in a job-shop setting that includes frequent changeovers and varied work. Background working with milling machines, drilling machines, and tapping machines. Comfort operating CNC machines and manual machines in combination to complete complex jobs. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety in all machining activities. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a shop and manufacturing environment focused on industrial equipment and precision machining. Tasks require frequent standing, walking, bending, and the regular lifting of 30-50 pounds, along with consistent use of manual dexterity for detailed machining and inspection work. You will work around CNC mills, manual lathes and mills, drilling and tapping machines, and other manufacturing equipment in a setting that can be noisy; appropriate personal protective equipment is provided and expected to be used. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Burlington, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45000.00 - $65000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
