Job Title:
CNC Machinist (Mill) | 1st shift | $27-$32/hr | Canton, OH Job Description This role is ideal for an experienced CNC machinist who enjoys hands-on production work in a clean, climate-controlled job shop environment. You will operate and maintain CNC milling equipment, perform machine edits and tool changes, and ensure parts meet tight tolerances while working with materials such as stainless steel and brass. The position is on first shift, Monday through Friday, with optional overtime, and offers the opportunity to contribute directly to high-quality, safety-critical components used across a wide range of industries. Responsibilities Operate CNC milling machines in a production shop environment with shorter run times and frequent changeovers. Set up CNC machines, including loading programs, setting tools, and preparing fixtures as needed for each job. Perform machine edits and tool changes to optimize machining processes and ensure consistent part quality. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and tolerancing requirements to produce parts to specification. Use micrometers and calipers to measure parts and verify they are within a tolerance of +/-.005 inches. Monitor machine performance, perform basic maintenance, and address minor issues to minimize downtime. Work with materials such as stainless steel and brass, adjusting machining parameters appropriately. Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including measurements, adjustments, and production counts. Collaborate with team members in a job shop environment to manage multiple jobs and meet production schedules. Follow all safety procedures and quality standards to support the manufacture of safety components and interlock systems. Essential Skills Proven experience in CNC machining on mills or lathes with 3-axis or more. Strong CNC machine operation skills, including setup, changeover, and production machining. Working knowledge of G and M codes for understanding and editing CNC programs. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and apply tolerancing requirements. Proficiency using micrometers and calipers to inspect and verify part dimensions. Experience performing basic machine edits, tool changes, and routine maintenance. Comfort working in a production job shop environment with shorter run times and frequent setups. Ability to machine materials such as stainless steel and brass while maintaining tight tolerances. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with CNC lathes, including 3-axis lathes with live tooling, is highly beneficial. changeovers, setups, and production machining across multiple machines. Familiarity with live tooling operations and multi-axis milling and turning. CNC programming experience is a plus and can provide additional growth opportunities. Attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality in safety-related components. Ability to work collaboratively in a family-oriented, mid-sized team environment of around 50 employees. Work Environment The role is based in a job shop environment that is family friendly, with approximately 50 employees and a close-knit culture. The facility is clean and climate controlled, providing a comfortable setting for precision machining work. The standard schedule is first shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with optional overtime of approximately 5-10 hours available. You will work with CNC mills and lathes, including 3-axis equipment and live tooling, machining materials such as stainless steel and brass. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Canton, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $32.00/hr.
