Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Pathway Work-study will assist with daily operations in the Welding and Machining labs to better streamline operations and learn important skills to better prepare them for the work force. Students will work closely with all staff and faculty at AMC. This Position focuses on Material Preparation, Housekeeping, Organization, Inventory control, Equipment operation and mild maintenance, as well as opportunities to design and build projects for AMC. Students looking to be hired for this position should demonstrate attention to detail, the ability to follow instructions and work independently or in a group as well as a clear understanding and knowledge base of Welding or Machining. This includes but is not limited to the Responsibilities listed below.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist with daily operations including: Following all safety protocols discussed previously in safety course, including wearing appropriate PPE while in lab. Maintain cleanliness and organization of Welding and Machining labs. Prepare materials and tools for class using a variety of cutting and processing equipment. Preform light maintenance while under supervision on band saws, Welding and CNC machines, fume extractors, and other equipment. Inventory tools, material, equipment, and supplies. Support special projects as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be enrolled at CCD with at least 6 credit hours, be financial aid eligible, and have a complete FAFSA on file. Students enrolled in the Welding pathway will have needed to have taken and passed Safety for Welders, Oxy- Joining, Oxy- Cutting, Blueprint and One Primary Welding Course from the Following.
GTAW, SMAW, GMAW
courses. Students enrolled in the Machining pathway will have needed to have taken and passed Safety for Machinists, as well as a CNC Lathe or CNC Mill Course.
Additional Information/Benefits:
Students hired for this position will learn a mix of Machining and Welding based skills including but not limited to. Cutting Tolerances and Equipment operations/maintenance on Band Saws, Plasma Torches, Track Torches, Shears. Warm up Programs on CNC Mills and Lathes. This position includes a Potential opportunity to become Forklift Certified. This position is designed for students enrolled in Machining and Welding courses.
