You'll join a small machining team in a plant with metal stamping and forming operations. This role involves taking ownership of machining jobs—from reading the drawing and writing the program through setup, machining, and inspection. It's a good fit for someone who enjoys varied work, solves problems independently, and takes pride in making accurate parts. What you'll do Independently set up and operate CNC and manual mills, lathes, grinders, and wire EDM equipment. Write and edit CNC programs using CAM software, documenting new programs and changes. Design fixtures and select tooling and workholding for efficient, repeatable machining. Read engineering drawings and inspect parts using precision measuring tools. Plan and prepare jobs, write setup and inspection procedures, and record work in the CMMS. Help maintain shop parts inventory through Kanban systems. Work with Production, Engineering, and New Product Development on machining needs and process improvements. Mentor other machinists and actively follow and participate in safety programs. Required qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. NIMS Level II certification. Ability to independently program, set up, and operate CNC equipment in a self-directed shop. Experience with CNC mills, lathes, and wire EDM equipment. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical instructions, specifications, and GD&T requirements. Strong understanding of machining, tooling, fixturing, and precision inspection. Practical troubleshooting skills and clear written and verbal communication. Ability to work effectively with a team. Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Availability to work overtime and weekends when necessary. Preferred experience Seven or more years in a high-mix, low-volume machine shop. Haas mills and lathes. GF/Agie Charmilles wire EDM equipment. Four-axis or higher machining. Mastercam and/or ESPRIT. An applicable associate degree or technical machining certification. Pay, schedule, and benefits $35-$41 per hour, depending on experience. First shift. Full-time, direct-hire opportunity. Overtime opportunities.
