Why this role exists Deliver high-precision parts that meet demanding engineering and customer specifications Elevate throughput and first-pass yield across CNC and Swiss turning operations Mentor entry-level machinists and apprentices to strengthen the team Feed our continuous improvement engine with data-driven ideas We're hiring for both First and Second shifts. What you will do Own end-to-end setups on CNC and Swiss lathes: program load/verify, offsets, dry runs, and first-article confirmation Select and maintain tooling, fixtures, and workholding to reduce setup time and variation Run multiple machines when appropriate to meet plan Monitor cycle times, adjust feeds/speeds, and optimize utilization Capture accurate setup, downtime, and production data Read complex prints with GD&T; validate parts using micrometers, indicators, bore/height gauges, CMM, and more Minimize scrap and rework; escalate nonconformances and support corrective actions Troubleshoot tooling wear, chatter, workholding, or capability issues; recommend process and tooling improvements Participate in lean events and continuous improvement projects Must-haves 3+ years of machining/CNC experience or equivalent capability Independent CNC setup and operation skills Blueprint + GD&T fluency Precision measurement and hand metrology proficiency Reliable, punctual attendance High school diploma or GED (preferred) Nice-to-haves 4-axis and 5-axis machining center experience CAM use or program editing Background in high-mix, tight-tolerance work Vocational/technical machining education Physical requirements Standing for long periods Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand motions Safe work around noise, coolant, and moving equipment How we define success 98%+ attendance 90%+ daily production goal attainment Scrap at 2% or below Setup times at or under standard High machine utilization with low avoidable downtime Consistent in-spec parts with minimal rework Leadership, mentoring, and effective problem-solving Tech stack you'll touch CNC Lathes (2-4 axis):
Mazak, Haas, Okuma, Dmg Mori Seiki CNC Swiss Lathes:
Tsugami, Index, Star, Citizen CNC Lathes (5+ axis): Mazak, Okuma, Dmg Mori Seiki Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and measurement gauges Quality control software Programming fundamentals: G-code and M-code; CNC setup & changeover Grow your career This mid-level role sets the stage for advancement to CNC Lathe Machinist III, Lead Machinist, Programmer, or Supervisor as you demonstrate technical mastery and leadership.
