Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated CNC Machinist to join our dynamic manufacturing team for the firearms industry. In this role, you will operate, set up, and maintain CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines to produce precision metal and carbon fiber components. Your expertise in CNC programming, machine setup, and quality inspection will ensure that parts meet strict specifications and quality standards. Duties Operate CNC milling machines, lathes, grinders, and other machining tools to produce high-quality parts according to technical drawings and specifications Program CNC machines using G-code, M-code, Fanuc controls, and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software to optimize machining processes Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings accurately to determine machining requirements and tooling needs Set up machines by installing tooling, calibrating equipment using precision measurement instruments such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) Perform machine adjustments and manual machining as needed to ensure precision tolerances are maintained throughout production runs Conduct quality inspections during and after machining using measurement tools and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards to verify part accuracy Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols including proper use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and forklift operation when necessary Troubleshoot machine issues promptly by analyzing tooling wear or programming errors and implementing corrective actions Support lean manufacturing initiatives by optimizing workflows, reducing waste, and improving overall efficiency in the machining process Experience Proven experience operating CNC machinery such as CNC lathes, mills, or CNC milling machines with a strong understanding of CNC programming languages including G-code and M-code Hands-on knowledge of Haas controls or similar conversational programming systems is highly desirable Skilled in reading mechanical blueprints and interpreting technical drawings accurately for precise manufacturing Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret mechanical blueprints and specifications effectively Experience with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software like SolidWorks or general CAD programs for part design review is a plus Proficiency in using measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and coordinate measuring machines for quality control purposes Knowledge of machining tools including grinders, hand tools, tooling setups, and power tools required for machine maintenance or manual operations Understanding of GD&T principles for ensuring parts meet tight tolerances in high-precision manufacturing environments Ability to perform basic math calculations related to measurements, feed rates, speeds, and tolerances necessary for accurate machining operations Prior experience supporting manufacturing environments that involve plastics injection molding or metal fabrication is advantageous This is a very tight and fun team to work for.
