Full-Time, Non-Exempt Reports to: Machine Shop Foreman & General Manager Position Summary Spendrup Fan is seeking a skilled Machinist to produce high-precision components for industrial fan production. This role involves operating a variety of manual machines and utilizing specialized equipment to balance rotors. You will work closely with the Machine Shop Foreman and General Manager to ensure all components meet exact specifications and production deadlines.
Key Responsibilities Machining & Production Manual Machining:
Machine items required for company production using a variety of manual equipment.
Precision Setups:
Set up machining equipment for efficient and safe production runs.
Rotor Balancing:
Operate balancing equipment to ensure rotors meet all required technical specifications.
Workflow Coordination:
Collaborate with leadership to ensure components are machined, balanced, and ready for painting or assembly to meet on-time shipment goals.
Quality & Maintenance Technical Compliance:
Ensure all components are machined to correct specifications based on drawings, written instructions, or verbal directions.
Inspection:
Perform quality control inspections of machined parts using precision gauging to ensure tolerances are met.
Equipment Care:
Maintain machine shop equipment and assist with the future planning of shop layout, workflow, and new equipment integration.
Testing:
Assist with the functional testing of completed equipment.
Qualifications Education:
High school diploma required; a certificate in machining technology or equivalent professional experience is preferred.
Technical Skills:
• Strong understanding of machining technology, welding, and assembly processes. Advanced math skills, including the use of calculators for shop arithmetic. Ability to make quality control decisions based on precise tolerances.
Communication:
Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly with management regarding project status and safety.
Physical Requirements & Environment Stamina:
Ability to stand on concrete floors for up to 8 hours per day.
Physical Tasks:
Frequent stooping, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Dexterity:
Requires excellent finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination for close-tolerance work.
Travel:
While primarily based indoors, occasional travel to mine sites for field work or inspections is possible.
Overtime:
Availability for occasional overtime as production demands require. Required Protective Equipment (PPE) Steel-toed boots. Safety glasses. Hearing protection. Gloves.
