This role is responsible for operating CNC equipment and manual lathes, maintaining machining workflow, supporting inventory and purchasing needs, and helping ensure efficient, safe, high-quality shop operations. The Part-Time Machinist plays a hands-on role in daily manufacturing and shop activity. Success in the role depends on quality workmanship, sound judgment, safe work habits, accountability, and the ability to keep production moving efficiently. Key Responsibilities Set up, operate, and perform routine maintenance on CNC machines (Haas) to complete machining and production work. Operate and maintain manual lathes for shop projects, component work, and related machining tasks. Manage machining workflow and production priorities to support efficient, high-quality shop operations. Research, source, order, and track tooling related to machining and general gunsmithing. Manage inventory levels for shop supplies, raw materials, tooling, and related production consumables. Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, equipment, and tooling storage. Inspect completed work for quality, dimensional accuracy, and conformity with project requirements. Communicate material, tooling, equipment, or process needs that affect production efficiency. Follow company policies, shop safety procedures, and all applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Required Qualifications Experience operating CNC machines, including setup and routine machining operations. Experience operating and maintaining manual lathes. Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple shop priorities and maintain organized workflows. Familiarity with tooling, machining materials, measurement practices, and safe shop operations. Ability to research and procure tools, supplies, and production materials. Ability to work independently while coordinating with leadership on priorities and production needs. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting gunsmithing projects or work in a firearms-related manufacturing environment. Familiarity with production planning, tooling lifecycle management, or shop inventory control. Ability to identify practical process improvements that increase efficiency or quality.
Pay:
$24.00 - $29.00 per hour Expected hours: No more than 40.0 per week
