Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Machinist (or individual eager to learn this trade) to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will operate and set up various machining equipment to produce precision components according to detailed blueprints and specifications. Your expertise will ensure high-quality production, efficient machine operation, and adherence to safety standards. Duties Operate CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines such as lathes, mills, and grinders, ensuring precise machining of parts using CNC G-code programming and Fanuc controls. Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to produce accurate components. Set up machines by installing tooling, calibrating measurement instruments like micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and precision measuring instruments for quality control. Program CNC machines utilizing on board conversational programming. Perform manual machining tasks using hand tools, lathes, grinders, and other machining tools when necessary for prototype or small-batch production. Conduct quality inspections on finished parts using measurement tools to ensure compliance with specifications; document inspection results accurately. Maintain a clean and organized work area, follow safety protocols including proper use of power tools, welding equipment when applicable, and forklift operation for material handling. Assist with machine setup, tooling changes, and troubleshooting to minimize downtime and maximize productivity. Qualifications Proven experience operating CNC machinery such as CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, or CNC grinders with familiarity in Fanuc or similar control systems. Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, mechanical blueprint interpretation, GD&T principles, and precision measurement techniques. Proficiency in CNC programming using G-code and M-code commands; experience with CAM software is highly desirable. Familiarity with machining tools including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, grinders, hand tools, power tools, and tooling management. Basic math skills for measurements, calculations related to machining tolerances, and process adjustments. Mechanical knowledge of metal machining processes including turning, milling, grinding, and welding when applicable. Ability to operate forklifts safely; certification preferred but not required. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles to improve efficiency and reduce waste in production workflows.
