A Machinist builds and repairs precisely detailed and sized metal parts used in a variety of tools and appliances. Builds parts following a blueprint or creates original designs.
Kamatics is seeking Machinists across multiple experience levels (III, IV, V & VI) with Swiss-style CNC machining experience to join our team in Bloomfield, CT. This role supports the production of high-precision aerospace components by setting up, operating, and troubleshooting Swiss CNC lathes , including Tsugami equipment, in a fast-paced, precision manufacturing environment. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience on Swiss-style sliding headstock machines (Tsugami, Citizen, Star, or similar). Candidates may range from experienced machinists expanding their technical skills to highly skilled machinists capable of independently performing complex setups, optimizing machining processes, and mentoring others. 2nd

Key Responsibilities Set up, operate, adjust, and troubleshoot Swiss-style CNC lathes , including Tsugami and comparable equipment. Perform complete machine setups including tooling installation, guide bushing setup, bar feeder configuration, workholding, offsets, and program verification. Produce complex, tight-tolerance aerospace components using Swiss turning processes. Read and interpret blueprints, operation sheets, setup instructions, and GD&T requirements. Monitor machine performance, tool wear, and cutting conditions to maintain quality and maximize productivity. Edit offsets and make program adjustments as needed to ensure dimensional accuracy. Verify parts using precision inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators, optical comparators, and other measuring instruments. Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and process issues while minimizing downtime and scrap. Complete production documentation while following all quality, safety, and environmental procedures. Support continuous improvement initiatives that improve efficiency, cycle time, and process capability. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Qualifications Education High school diploma or GED required. Technical school, apprenticeship, or machining certification preferred. Experience 2-6+ years of CNC machining experience , preferably operating Swiss-style CNC lathes (Tsugami, Citizen, Star, or similar sliding headstock machines). Aerospace, medical device, or other high-precision manufacturing experience is highly preferred. Experience level and responsibilities will align with the candidate's skills and demonstrated capabilities. Skills & Knowledge Experience setting up and operating Swiss CNC lathes , preferably Tsugami machines. Knowledge of Swiss machining principles, guide bushings, bar feeders, live tooling, sub-spindles, and tight-tolerance manufacturing. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T. Strong understanding of CNC offsets (geometry and wear), tool compensation, and program adjustments. Proficiency using precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with production, quality, and engineering teams. Experience optimizing cycle times, tooling, and machining processes is highly desirable.
