Full Job Description Job Overview/Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated CNC Long-Turning Machinist to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will operate Long-bed CNC lathes primarily, but may have to operate other types of production machines as well including grinders and mills. Supervisory Responsibilties:
None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate Long-bed CNC lathes, including adjusting guide brushings, setting jaws, installing live toolings, working with steady rests and tailstocks.
- Proficiency in operating Siemens Sinumerik control. Including setting work offsets, tool offsets, etc.
- Read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T schematics.
- Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using high-precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, etc.
- Diagnose and resolve machining issues, including tool deflection, vibration, material drift, and surface finish imperfections.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on machines.
- Maintain a clean, safe and orderly work area.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to follow directions and work well in a team.
- Strong proficiency in reading blueprints and interpreting GD&T.
- Ability to understand G-code.
- Ability to interpret and translate engineering designs and documentation.
- Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production equipment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of and the ability to abide by applicable OSHA and environmental regulations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Strong desire to continuously learn and improve skills.
- Familiarity with converting measurements, calculating and inputting machine offsets, performing tool wear compensations, etc.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience setting up and operating Long Bed Turning machines o Large diameter check experience, > 25" diameter o Shaft machining experience
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds at a time.
- Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced.
Pay:
$30.00 - $40.00 per hour Expected hours: 55.0 - 60.0 per week
