SUMMARY Performs assigned duties involved in supporting the daily activities of the Production Department. CNC programming experience required. It is desired that a candidate have experience as a manual machinist skilled in the operation of manual mills and lathes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned. Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances required of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements. Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, and grinders. Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut. Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required. Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications. Confers with engineers, production personnel or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.

EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and blueprints.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
