Position Overview You'll take ownership of machining high-precision components using manual mills and lathes. This position requires mastery—not mediocrity. You'll work on challenging parts with tight tolerances that require genuine machining skill rather than repetitive production work. You'll also participate in EOS meetings, identify issues, propose solutions, and contribute to building a stronger, smarter, and more efficient company. Your voice matters here. This is a role for someone who wants to leave a mark—not simply punch a clock. Detailed Job Duties Perform complete machine setup, tramming, alignment, and calibration with confidence and precision. Select and install proper cutters, inserts, collets, arbors, and workholding based on experience—not guesswork. Build fixtures, modify soft jaws, and create rigid setups that eliminate chatter, taper, and dimensional drift. Read complex blueprints, GD&T, and multi-operation sequences accurately.
Perform manual machining operations including:
Turning Facing Boring Threading Drilling Tapping Contouring Slotting Optimize feeds and speeds to maximize tool life while maintaining tolerance. Machine steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, plastics, and specialty alloys. Hold tolerances of ±0.001" or tighter and verify accuracy using precision inspection equipment. Record measurements, complete inspection documentation, and maintain traceability. Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, lubrication, and accuracy checks. Diagnose and correct chatter, taper, vibration, tool wear, and surface finish issues. Recommend process improvements based on practical machining experience. Independently manage multiple jobs while maintaining productivity and quality. Participate in EOS Level 10 Meetings by identifying issues, contributing solutions, and supporting continuous improvement. Help build a shop culture that develops and inspires the next generation of machinists. Required Qualifications Minimum 8 years of professional manual machining experience. Expert proficiency operating manual mills and lathes. Ability to consistently hold tight tolerances. Strong knowledge of cutting tools, materials, and machining strategies. Must provide your own professional tools. Ability to work independently while managing multiple jobs. Strong attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship.
