Overview We are seeking an experienced Machinist to set up and operate a variety of machine tools and perform precision machining, fitting, layout, assembly, and equipment maintenance. This position works independently with minimal supervision and may work in both the machine shop and field. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, boring mills, and other machine tools. Machine new and used iron, steel, alloys, and other metal materials to specified dimensions, contours, tolerances, and finishes. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, and work orders. Perform complex layout work and calculate dimensions, tapers, indices, and other machining data. Select, grind, and install cutting tools based on material properties and machining requirements. Set feeds, speeds, stops, and machine adjustments for efficient and accurate machining. Use precision measuring tools including calipers, gauges, levels, protractors, templates, and rules. Make and repair tools, fixtures, gauges, templates, dies, machine parts, and instrument components. Dismantle, assemble, fit, align, and adjust machinery and equipment to close tolerances. Fabricate or procure jigs, fixtures, and machine attachments as needed. Perform plant maintenance and construction-related fitting and assembly work. Operate cranes and mobile equipment as required. Maintain required reports and documentation. Work independently or provide direction to other employees as needed. Qualifications & Skills Strong mechanical and machining skills. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical instructions. Experience setting up and operating multiple types of machine tools. Ability to perform precision measurements and work to close tolerances. Knowledge of cutting tools, feeds, speeds, materials, and machining processes. Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to machining, including dimensions and tapers. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to safely handle machinery, materials, and shop equipment. Work Environment This position may require working in both the machine shop and field and may involve lifting, equipment setup, machinery dismantling/assembly, and operation of cranes or mobile equipment. Hours & Pay $35.19/hr. Day shift
