Job Description

Role Summary We are seeking a skilled Surface Grinder Machinist to join our manufacturing team in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. This is a first-shift, contract-to-hire position focused on executing precision surface and OD/ID grinding tasks to meet exact client quality standards and specifications.

5:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Contract-to-Hire Core Duties Configure, run, and resolve issues with precision grinding machinery. Execute surface and OD/ID grinding processes to ensure all project requirements are met. Help maintain product integrity by consistently achieving tolerances as precise as ±0.0001 inch. Analyze and translate complex technical blueprints, drawings, and GD&T specifications. Conduct initial part inspections to help ensure high-quality output and maintain accurate records. Utilize various precision gauges, inspection tools, and digital optical measurement systems. Support facility efficiency by performing routine maintenance and adhering to 5S organizational standards. Promote a secure workplace by following all established safety and operational protocols. Perform physical tasks including standing, bending, and lifting weights up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Essential Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in precision machining or grinding. Proven background in the setup and troubleshooting of grinding systems. Demonstrated proficiency in interpreting technical blueprints and schematics. Competency in operating precision measurement and quality assurance devices. Proven capability to maintain strict tolerances of ±0.0001 inch. Strong mechanical reasoning and the ability to operate autonomously. High school diploma or equivalent qualification. Preferred Skills Proficiency with Okamoto surface grinding machines. Experience operating Studer OD/ID grinding equipment. Familiarity with digital optical inspection technology. Knowledge of standard preventive maintenance and 5S workplace methodologies. Pay and Terms Hourly rate between $30 and $35. Path to permanent employment via contract-to-hire.
