Summary CNC Machine Operators are responsible for all aspects of machine setup, and operate conventional manual, special purpose, and computer numerical control (CNC) machines on repetitive jobs to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts, managing daily programs and running the machines. CNC Machine Operators are responsible for maintaining equipment, inventory of materials and supplies, and can assist in training new employees. Responsibilities Reads job information and locates and loads correct fixture, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and program on machines such as CNC and manual lathes and machining centers, and completes documentation as required. Loads and unloads piece parts from machine and fixture during production run and performs periodic inspections. Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining. Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and makes minor adjustments to assure part is made to print specification, with assistance. Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications. Conducts and records daily, weekly, and/or monthly maintenance tasks. Performs inspection of piece part to assure part is made to specification. Makes adjustments as needed to make piece parts conform to paint specifications. Changes process parameters as needed and makes adjustments to painting equipment to assure parts conform to print specifications. Loads and unloads piece parts from fixtures during production run and performs periodic inspections including wet and dry film thickness measurements. Perform necessary paperwork (labor tickets, inspection sheets, etc) Demonstrates ability to meet production standards on specific assignments within required time. Maintains good housekeeping and clean work areas in assigned space. Performs all assignments in accordance with safety specifications, instructions, and requirements. Responsible for safety and quality throughout production Responsible for notifying a Production Lead or Supervisor when they step off the line to ensure safety and quality standards are maintained. Reports all production waste/issues to Production Lead or Supervisor Performs other duties as required by Supervisor Manager Follows all company policies and procedures. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent 3+ years of previous experience Language Skills - Ability to speak clearly and to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Mathematical Skills - Ability to use shop math. Must be able to operate/setup VTL Ability to work in a fast paced environment Understand plant safety guidelines and pass all required safety training Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions Troubleshoot problems and report issues Must work well in team environment
