English or Spanish Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Manual Machinist to join a precision manufacturing and repair operation in Oswego, IL. This position is ideal for a skilled machinist who is comfortable producing complex, high-precision parts using manual machining equipment. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, understands close tolerances, and can confidently read blueprints and technical drawings. Responsibilities Machine complex, high-precision parts used for equipment repairs. Operate manual lathes, milling machines, shapers, grinders, and related equipment. Calculate dimensions and tolerances using micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments. Machine parts according to drawings, specifications, and required tolerances. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and metric measurements. Inspect completed work and identify defective materials or questionable conditions. Perform mechanical assembly and disassembly as needed. Recommend process improvements when appropriate. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Follow all established safety procedures. Complete additional machining, mechanical, and shop-related assignments as needed. Qualifications 3+ years of manual machining experience preferred. Previous experience in a manufacturing or machining environment. Proficiency with precision measuring tools and close-tolerance work. Ability to read blueprints and understand metric measurements. Strong mechanical aptitude. Basic math skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to follow written instructions and established procedures. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Dependable attendance and willingness to work overtime as needed. Crane and forklift experience is a plus; training may be available. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and sit or stand for extended periods. Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical or machining certification preferred.
