CNC Machinist (Mill Set-Up)
Location:
Wheeling, IL Position Summary Our client is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist with strong mill set-up experience to join their growing manufacturing team. This position is responsible for setting up and operating 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC milling machines to produce high-precision components while maintaining strict quality and production standards. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience performing complete machine set-ups, reading blueprints, selecting tooling, and making machine adjustments to ensure parts meet tight tolerances. Responsibilities Set up and operate 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC milling machines. Perform complete machine set-ups, including tooling, fixtures, and offsets. Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions. Verify first-piece and in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments. Make machine and tooling adjustments to maintain quality and production efficiency. Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and equipment issues. Maintain dimensional accuracy while meeting production deadlines. Perform routine machine maintenance and keep work areas clean and organized. Follow all company safety and quality standards. Qualifications 3+ years of CNC machining experience. Proven experience performing mill set-ups on 3, 4, and/or 5-axis CNC machines. Ability to independently set up and operate CNC mills. Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge preferred. Experience using precision measuring tools, including micrometers, calipers, and gauges. Solid understanding of machining practices, tooling, feeds, and speeds. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience in precision manufacturing, aerospace, or other tight-tolerance industries. Ability to edit or troubleshoot CNC programs is a plus.
