• Job Description
• The CNC Machinist ensures the safe, high-quality, and efficient operation of CNC machines in a production environment.

This role interprets customer specifications, sets up and runs CNC equipment to minimize waste and maximize productivity, and maintains a clean and organized work area. The CNC Machinist makes critical decisions about product quality and on-time delivery, communicates improvement opportunities to the CNC cell lead, and performs precise measurements using tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauge pins while managing multiple tasks, including initiating the deburr process for parts.

• Responsibilities
• + Interpret job travelers and machining plans to understand client specifications and translate them into accurate CNC machine setups.

+ Install fixtures, attachments, and tools according to setup documents, ensuring materials are properly mounted before cutting begins.

+ Set up and operate CNC machines, including lathes and other CNC equipment, to produce parts that meet quality and dimensional requirements.

+ Work within the work cell to machine parts, deburr or blend parts, and assist others as needed to meet production demands.

+ Review, interpret, and discuss job specifications with employees, engineers, and supervisors to ensure alignment between plans and finished products.

+ Collaborate with engineering, programming, and quality assurance teams to modify designs and programs when existing ones are not feasible or require adjustment.

+ Monitor and adjust cutting processes throughout each job to maintain product quality, identifying mistakes as they occur and taking corrective actions to eliminate errors.

+ Perform thorough and accurate quality reviews before and during operation, including periodic part inspections with the CNC cell lead to minimize scrap.

+ Ensure proper start-up and cool-down procedures are followed for assigned CNC machines.

+ Maintain a clean and organized work area by sweeping, wiping down, and cleaning the work cell and the inside of operated machines at the end of each shift, and by putting away tools and organizing the workbench.

+ Accurately enter machining plans and programs into CNC machines to produce quality products, working directly with the CNC cell lead, quality assurance, and programming teams when adjustments are required.

+ Complete daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks, including lubrication, cleaning, and tool replacement, to support machine longevity and reliability.

+ Maximize productivity and minimize idle time during long machine run cycles by effectively managing workflow and multitasking within the work cell.

+ Participate in root cause and corrective action processes for any defective parts produced, contributing to continuous improvement of machining operations.

+ Follow all site safety policies and procedures and work with site management to identify and report safety concerns or improvement opportunities.

• Essential Skills
• + Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC machines, including lathes and related CNC equipment.

+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints, job travelers, and machining plans with strong attention to detail.

+ Proficiency in using precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauge pins to verify part dimensions and quality.

+ Strong understanding of CNC cutting processes and the ability to make real-time adjustments to maintain product quality.

+ Capability to perform deburring and blending operations on machined parts within the work cell.

+ Effective communication skills for discussing job specifications and collaborating with employees, engineers, supervisors, and quality teams.

+ Demonstrated ability to identify machining errors quickly and implement corrective actions to prevent defects and scrap.

+ Commitment to following safety policies and maintaining a safe work environment.

+ Ability to multitask and manage machine run cycles while performing other work cell activities.

• Work Environment
• This role is based in a manufacturing work cell that centers on CNC machining operations, including lathes and other CNC equipment.

You work on the shop floor around active machinery, performing setups, operating machines, deburring and blending parts, and conducting inspections during production runs. The environment requires adherence to site safety policies and the use of appropriate protective equipment. Shifts involve standing, moving between machines, and handling tools and materials, with an emphasis on keeping the work area clean, swept, and wiped down at the end of each shift. You regularly perform routine machine maintenance, such as lubrication, cleaning, and tool changes, and you work closely with cell leads, quality assurance, and programming teams in a collaborative, production-focused setting.

• This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, KS.
• Pay and Benefits
• The pay range for this position is $20.

00 - $26.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
