Job Title:
Machinist - 1st Shift Job Description The Machinist sets up and operates CNC mills, lathes, and machining centers to produce precision parts that meet engineering specifications. This role translates engineering drawings and design requirements into accurate machining operations while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency. Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and machining centers to produce precision components. Load raw materials into machines and ensure proper alignment and secure fixturing. Select appropriate tooling and adjust machine offsets to meet required tolerances. Run machines to produce parts that meet engineering specifications and quality standards. Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications. Translate design and engineering requirements into efficient machining operations. Use precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers to inspect parts and verify dimensions. Perform CNC setup activities, including tooling changes, fixture setup, and program selection. Support basic programming or adjustment of CNC programs as needed to optimize part quality and cycle times. Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety procedures in the shop. Essential Skills Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC mills, lathes, or machining centers. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T tolerances and specifications. Proficiency in CNC setup, including loading materials, selecting tooling, and adjusting offsets. Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers to verify part dimensions. Experience with CNC machining processes and producing parts to tight tolerances. Ability to translate design and engineering requirements into practical machining operations. Experience with programming using G and M codes or conversational programming for CNC machines. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with fixture design to support efficient and accurate machining. Experience working with both CNC mills and lathes in a production or job shop environment. Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail when working with precision components. The team is a small, close-knit group that works together closely on the shop floor, fostering a collaborative and hands-on environment. Standard day-shift hours support a consistent routine in a practical, production-focused setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hebron, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
