Must Have

Silver Torch Brazing

TRAK DPM

Machinist with experience in ProtoTraK controls and precision machining, and production improvement. Experienced in silver torch brazing waveguide components and cooling lines. Completed 12 months of torch brazing and machining experience including tooling, offsets, machine setup, and process verification. Skilled in blueprint reading, tooling adjustments, and inspection of your work.

Nice To Have

Experience with aluminum and copper waveguide components

JOB DESCRIPTION

Northrop Grumman is looking for a Machinist 2 to support our machine shop and brazing department. This position will serve on-site at Hopkinton, MA 01748.

Responsibilities:

Silver torch braze brass flanges onto waveguide, braze copper fittings onto brass plates, and 1/2 coolant lines. Set up and operate a variety of machine tools such as DPM milling machines, cold saw, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions. Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup; uses a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds; measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining; fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required. Typically requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications for Machinist 2:
  • Silver torch brazing
  • Set up and operate a Southwestern DPM with ProtoTrak controls
  • Deburring, Dagging
Preferred Qualifications for Machinist 2:

Experience with aluminum and copper waveguide components

Fixturing parts for vacuum brazing
