In this role, you will operate, set up, and maintain CNC machines—including lathes and milling machines—to produce high-quality components. Responsibilities Operate CNC machining equipment such as CNC lathes and milling machines, ensuring precise execution of production orders. Set up machines by installing tooling, calibrating equipment, and programming using CNC G-code and M-code languages. Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings accurately to produce complex parts with tight tolerances. Develop and modify CNC programs utilizing CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software, including Mazatrol and other programming platforms. Perform machine setup, calibration, and adjustments to optimize machining processes for efficiency and quality. Conduct precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, micrometers, and other measurement tools to verify dimensions during manufacturing. Inspect finished parts for quality compliance through CNC quality inspection procedures, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and measurement techniques. Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols related to manual machining, grinding, tool handling, and machine operation. Troubleshoot mechanical issues with machining tools or equipment promptly to minimize downtime. Collaborate with team members on assembly processes when required, utilizing hand tools and power tools for finishing tasks. Skills Proficiency in CNC programming languages such as G-code and M-code; experience with CNC G-code programming is essential. Strong knowledge of CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software like SolidWorks or similar for interpreting designs; experience with CAD is highly desirable. Skilled in blueprint reading and mechanical blueprint interpretation to ensure accurate manufacturing processes. Familiarity with CAM software for developing efficient machining programs; Mazatrol experience is a plus. Expertise in operating various machining tools including grinders, bore gauges, calipers, micrometers, hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments for quality control. Mechanical knowledge of metal machining processes including lathe work, milling operations, manual machining techniques, grinding, and electrical discharge machining (EDM). Ability to perform precise measurements in manufacturing environments using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and bore gauges. Understanding of GD&T principles for ensuring parts meet dimensional specifications. Basic math skills necessary for calculations related to machine setup and measurement conversions. Experience in machine setup procedures for CNC lathe and milling machines; familiarity with machining tools is essential. Knowledge of safety protocols related to CNC operation, manual machining, grinding equipment, assembly tasks, and the use of hand/power tools.
