CNC Team Lead / Setup Machinist - 1st
Shift Location:
Jackson, MI Schedule:
Monday-Friday:
6:00am - 4:30pm
Pay:
$25.00+ per hour (based on experience)

Full-time/In-person Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced CNC Team Lead / Setup Machinist to support the setup and production of high-precision aerospace and machined components. This hands-on 1st shift role is ideal for a self-starter who takes pride in craftsmanship, thrives in a team environment, and can lead by example while maintaining high standards for quality, efficiency, and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes for high-precision parts Perform machine setups, adjustments, tooling changes, and production changeovers Program, retrieve, edit, and troubleshoot CNC programs using G-code, Fanuc, Mazatrol, and/or CAM software Install and adjust fixtures, tooling, and attachments for production jobs Troubleshoot machine, tooling, and production issues to minimize downtime Adjust offsets, feeds, and speeds to maintain tight tolerances and part quality Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, work orders, and technical drawings Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other precision measuring tools Support daily workflow, production schedules, and continuous improvement initiatives Train, mentor, and support machine operators and junior machinists Maintain organized work areas and uphold all safety and quality standards Work with aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, and other aerospace-grade materials
Qualifications:
5+ years of CNC machining experience preferred CNC setup and programming experience required Leadership or team lead experience preferred Strong experience operating and setting up CNC mills and lathes Strong understanding of G-code, tooling, feeds, speeds, and machining processes Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T requirements Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Experience with Fanuc controls, Mazatrol, CAM software, aerospace machining, EDM, or CAD is a plus
