Orchid Orthopedic Solutions seeks a CNC Machinist III to set up and operate complex multi-axis CNC equipment producing precision orthopedic implants and instruments. In this senior role, you will interpret blueprints and GD&T, select tooling and offsets, edit programs, and run first-article and in-process inspections to stringent medical device standards. You'll troubleshoot machining issues, drive root-cause problem solving, and mentor junior machinists. Working closely with engineering and quality, you'll support continuous improvement, lean initiatives, and strict regulatory and documentation requirements in a clean, high-tech manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Set up and operate complex multi-axis CNC machines for orthopedic implants and instruments Interpret blueprints, work instructions, and GD&T to meet tight tolerances Select, set, and adjust tooling, fixtures, speeds, and feeds for optimal performance Perform program edits, offsets, and prove-outs, including first-article runs Conduct in-process and final inspections using precision measurement tools Troubleshoot machining issues and perform root-cause analysis and corrective actions Maintain documentation to comply with medical device and quality system requirements Collaborate with engineering and quality on process improvements and new product introductions Support lean, 5 S, and continuous improvement initiatives on the production floor Train and mentor junior machinists on best practices and safety standards Required Skills CNC machine setup and operation Multi-axis (3-5 axis) machining CNC program editing and troubleshooting Blueprint reading GD&T interpretation Precision measurement and inspection (micrometers, CMM, gauges) Tooling selection and optimization Root-cause analysis and problem solving Lean manufacturing and 5 SDocumentation in regulated manufacturing environments
