Job Description

Thorud, Inc. a Bloomington based manufacturer is seeking Multi Axis Machinists for the set-up and operation of its Mori Seiki
NZX 1500, NLX
1500 and NL 1500 lathes on our day shifts. Thorud, Inc. is a provider of precision machined components to the commercial, aerospace, defense, fluids, hydraulics, electronics and medical device markets. Machine Operation Responsibilities:
Set-up, operate and maintain multiple assigned machines. Mori Seiki equipment with Mori Seiki controls. Read and interpret drawings/blueprints. Perform QC checks at indicated intervals as required on all parts that are running in the work centers to assure production of conforming parts. Change broken/dull tools and perform all offsets as required to keep the machine producing conforming parts. Ability to keep pace with all part de-burring that is part of the work center process. Inspect parts using microscopes, micrometers, comparator, gage pins, thread gages, indicators, calipers and/or other assigned equipment. Record inspection results on the QC Documents. Train and assist others on the use of all inspection equipment in the operation.
General Responsibilities:
Follow all work instructions and Shop Floor Standards. Follow safety requirements and company rules as outlined in the Employee Manual. Clean work area and machines as required. Perform machine maintenance as required. Perform other projects and duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications/Education/Experience:
Must have 5 to 7 years related set-up and/or operational experience with Mori Seiki multi axis equipment. Demonstration of basic machining skills either observed in the shop or evaluated by skills assessments. A good understanding of tool paths, use of MDI and a demonstrated discipline of problem solving skills. Proficient at understanding the programs pertaining to Mori Seiki NZX and NL series machines with Mori Seiki controls. Proficient in the operation and set-up of Mori Seiki equipment using established programs and tool lists to run production jobs utilizing NZX and NLX series machines with Mori Seiki controls within the stated set up times. Proficient with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) Previous experience with tight tolerances.
ISO / AS9100
experience a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to use microscope for extended periods of time.
