Select, prepare, and swap out tooling as needed for specific production runs. Analyze blueprints, technical layouts, and GD&T requirements to ensure accurate part production. Diagnose machining and process irregularities to help the team maintain consistent production flow. Identify potential safety risks in setups or processes to help maintain a secure working environment for the entire team. Record SPC data using various measurement tools like comparators, CMMs, and Trimos to ensure quality compliance. Execute routine machine maintenance and report any significant mechanical issues. Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to drive continuous improvement and process development. Assist in pre-production tasks and program validation for new product launches and process updates. Propose enhancements to existing machining and setup methodologies. Mentor and guide other operators to help the department achieve its collective quality and productivity targets. Complete secondary tasks, such as deburring, during active machine cycles to maximize efficiency. Maintain precise inventory records and ensure proper storage of all components. Keep your workspace organized and clean to help maintain a safe and efficient production floor. Comprehensive understanding of tooling requirements and presetting procedures. Competency in machining mathematics, blueprint reading, measurement techniques, and GD&T. Ability to consistently meet quality and output goals with minimal oversight to ensure project success. Strong mechanical aptitude and a deep understanding of manufacturing workflows. Excellent troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills. Strong planning, interpersonal, and communication skills. Solid PC skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software. Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing safety protocols to help foster a secure workplace. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and move up to 70 pounds. Ability to remain standing throughout the shift, excluding breaks. Ability to safely operate all required machinery and hand tools. Preferred Qualifications Two-year degree in Machining Technology or completion of a CNC trade school program. Experience producing tight-tolerance components for aerospace applications. Experience working with exotic alloys. Advanced experience with multi-axis Swiss CNC machines and live tooling. Experience supporting pre-production runs, program prove-outs, and new tooling. Experience training or mentoring other machinists. For a seasoned machinist, this role provides more than just machine operation; it is an opportunity to solve complex problems, refine processes, share your technical knowledge, and manufacture precision components where every detail is critical.
