CNC Lathe Machinist - Multi-Axis Weekend Shift Job Description This role focuses on setting up, operating, and maintaining multi-axis CNC lathe machines in a precision manufacturing environment. You will run complex production jobs on a weekend shift, perform tool changes and offsets, edit CNC programs using G and M codes, and inspect your own work using a variety of precision measuring instruments while working with tight tolerances and multiple materials. Responsibilities Set up, operate, and maintain multi-axis CNC lathe machines for production runs. Perform tool changes and adjust offsets as needed to maintain part quality and machine performance. Edit and troubleshoot CNC programs using G and M codes to ensure efficient and accurate machining. Work with a variety of materials, including steels, aluminum, and plastics, to produce precision components. Inspect and verify parts using microscopes, micrometers, comparators, gauge pins, thread gauges, and calipers. Maintain tight tolerances on parts, including tolerances as tight as +/- 0.0001 inches. Monitor machine performance and part quality throughout production runs and make adjustments as required. Essential Skills 4-6 years of related set-up and/or operational experience with multi-axis CNC lathe equipment. 3+ years of hands-on experience with multi-axis lathes. 1+ year of experience with advanced CNC lathe platforms such as NZX and NL series machines. Experience working with live tooling on multi-axis lathes. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints. Proficiency in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing). Proficiency in CNC program editing using G and M codes. Ability to perform tool changes and adjust offsets on CNC lathes. Ability to inspect parts using microscopes, micrometers, comparators, gauge pins, thread gauges, and calipers. Comfort working to very tight tolerances, including +/- 0.0001 inches. Additional Skills & Qualifications Preferred 1+ years of experience with understanding programs related to NZX and NL series machines with advanced controls. Understanding of tool paths and the ability to use MDI (Manual Data Input). Experience working with steels, aluminum, and plastics in a production environment. Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a weekend shift role, scheduled Friday through Sunday from 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., where you work 36 hours and are paid for 40. The environment is centered around multi-axis CNC lathe equipment and precision inspection tools, with an emphasis on quality, accuracy, and safety throughout the production process. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bloomington, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.
