Summary:
Sets up and operates manual lathes, mills, and related machine-shop equipment.
Independently sets up, programs, and runs CNC machines, including creating toolpaths, selecting tooling, and validating machining strategies.
Creates, modifies, and maintains fixturing required for machining complex prototype and development components.
Generates CNC programs and machining instructions using CAD/CAM inputs from drawings, sketches, models, or conceptual ideas.
Troubleshoots machining operations and adjusts speeds, feeds, tooling, and workholding as needed for quality, accuracy, and safety.
Inspects machined parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision instrumentation to ensure compliance with specifications.
Documents work performed, maintains machining notes, and communicates changes or challenges to engineering partners.
Follows all shop safety protocols and maintains a clean, organized work area.
Studies and records time, motion, methods, and speed to improve efficiency and establish standard production rates.
Performs a variety of complicated tasks with a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
Requirements:
Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
Proven experience as a machinist in a manufacturing environment with strong competency with mills, lathes, and other machine shop equipment, both manual and CNC.
Strong knowledge of machining processes, tools, and equipment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
Experience inspecting machined parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision instrumentation to ensure compliance with specifications.
Ability to independently set up, program, and run CNC machines.
Experience generating CNC programs and machining instructions using CAD/CAM inputs.
Experience troubleshooting machining operations and adjusting speeds, feeds, tooling, and workholding.
High school diploma or equivalent with 4-6 years of experience in the field.
Experience creating, modifying, and maintaining fixturing for complex prototype and development components.
