Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Milling Set Up Machinist to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and setting up milling machines to produce precision metal components. Your expertise will ensure efficient machine operation, high-quality output, and adherence to safety standards, supporting our commitment to excellence in manufacturing. Duties Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings to determine machining requirements. Set up and calibrate CNC milling machines, ensuring proper tooling and fixture installation. Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other measurement tools to verify part accuracy. Monitor machine operations during production runs, making adjustments to optimize performance and quality. Maintain detailed setup documentation, inspection reports, and quality control records in compliance with manufacturing standards. Requirements Proven experience setting up and operating CNC milling machines, particularly CNC milling machines. Knowledge of CNC programming including G and M code. Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and engineering drawings accurately. Mechanical aptitude with experience in metal machining, grinding, and manual machining techniques. Familiarity with measurement instruments like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM). Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and machine offsets. Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles for precision measurement. Ability to interpret mechanical blueprints and perform machine setup efficiently while adhering to safety protocols. Physical capability to handle tooling, power tools, forklifts, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity. Lean manufacturing awareness is a plus for continuous improvement initiatives.
