Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Machinist / Machine Operator to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a variety of CNC and manual machining equipment to produce precision cast iron components. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced machinery and develop your technical skills in a fast-paced environment committed to quality and excellence. The machine shop primarily consists of Doosan/DN and Mori-Seiki equipment. All are operated with Fanuc controls. Manual machine equipment (mill, lathe, drill press, etc.) is also available for custom work, fixturing manufacturing and repair, etc. Job is day shift only, no swing or off shift work required. M-Th 6:30a-4:00p. Fr 6:30a-10:30a. Company provides health insurance with zero cost to the employee. Competitive prescription drug plan is included with minimal deductibles. Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC machines such as CNC lathes, horizontal and vertical milling machines using Fanuc controls ensuring precise execution of complex parts. Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings to accurately produce parts. Knowledge of G/M code programming desired, but not required. Operator will assist CNC manager in troubleshooting and improvement of code as opportunities arise. Perform machine setups including tooling selection, calibration with precision measurement instruments like micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM). Conduct quality inspections throughout the manufacturing process utilizing measurement tools and visual inspection techniques to ensure parts meet specifications. Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety protocols; operate manual tools and power tools for secondary operations when necessary. Maintain CNC equipment as required by the maintenance schedule and other tasks (coolant cleanout, preventative maintenance, etc.). Work with team members on tooling adjustments, machine maintenance, and process improvements aligned with lean manufacturing principles. Requirements Experience operating CNC machinery such as CNC lathes, mills, or grinders; familiarity with Fanuc controls is preferred but not required. Recent trade school graduates are encouraged to apply. Mechanical aptitude with understanding of machining tools, tooling setup, measurement instruments (micrometers, calipers), and basic math skills for precise measurement calculations. Ability to read blueprints accurately and interpret mechanical blueprints for quality control purposes. Knowledge of safety standards related to machining operations. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot machine issues quickly while maintaining high-quality output. Two year CNC trade school or equivalent education strongly preferred.
