Job Title:

CNC Machinist Job Description The CNC Machinist will receive comprehensive training in all aspects of CNC machining, including milling, turning, and close tolerance manufacturing. Under the guidance of a senior machinist, you will learn to review technical drawings and samples, set up and operate CNC equipment, and ensure that parts are produced accurately to specification. Training in CAD software is desired, and you must demonstrate excellent attention to detail, particularly when taking precise measurements and verifying work before and after production. Responsibilities Operate standard CNC equipment to produce production parts according to established procedures and quality standards. Review specification charts, samples, blueprints, and drawings for parts to be manufactured to ensure accurate interpretation of requirements. Follow prescribed plans of action and CNC programs to manufacture parts in line with detailed specifications. Select and apply the correct machine programming for each part being manufactured. Measure and mark raw materials needed to manufacture parts, ensuring accurate dimensions and alignment. Set up equipment required to complete each step of the manufacturing plan, including tooling, fixtures, and machine parameters. Monitor the production process and intervene promptly when problems arise, making adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency. Inspect finished parts for flaws and defects, verifying that they meet all dimensional and visual quality standards. Maintain machine shop equipment by performing routine checks and basic upkeep to support safe and reliable operation. Support aerostat assembly, repair, alignment, fastening, and testing activities as needed to produce complete products and components. Handle materials, parts, and products safely and efficiently, using appropriate tools and equipment. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support manufacturing, repair, and inspection activities. Essential Skills Ability to operate standard CNC machining equipment for milling and turning tasks. Strong attention to minute details, particularly when taking precise measurements and verifying dimensions. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, specification charts, samples, and work order instructions. Basic computer skills, including proficiency with word processing software. Experience operating either a forklift or an aerial lift; experience with both is preferred. Capability to follow detailed manufacturing plans, programs, and procedures accurately. Skill in inspecting parts and products for flaws, defects, and compliance with specifications. Ability to perform basic equipment setup, including selecting machine programs and adjusting settings. Comfort working in a manufacturing and production environment with tools, equipment, and materials. High school diploma or equivalent education. Additional Skills & Qualifications Interest in or prior exposure to CAD software for manufacturing or machining applications. Experience in repair, assembly, and testing of mechanical or aerostat-related products. Background in manufacturing, production, or machine shop operations. Ability to align, fasten, and build components using appropriate tools and methods. Familiarity with inspection processes and quality checks in a production environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Elizabeth City, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
