Job Description

CNC MachinistPosition OverviewWe are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to set up, operate and maintain CNC milling and turning equipment to produce high-quality precision parts. The primary purpose of this role is to interpret engineering drawings, program or load CNC programs, perform accurate setups, monitor machining operations, and inspect finished parts to ensure they meet specifications. The ideal candidate will have strong CNC experience and a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Machining and broader manufacturing experience are nice-to-have.

Key ResponsibilitiesSet up, program (where applicable), and operate CNC lathes and mills to produce parts to specification.

Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and engineering specifications to determine machining requirements.

Select and install tooling, fixtures and workholding devices; calculate feeds, speeds and machining parameters.

Monitor machine operations, adjust settings for optimal performance, and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime.

Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) and document inspection results.

Maintain accurate production records, job sheets and material traceability documentation.

Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning and basic repairs; report larger issues to maintenance staff.

Follow company safety protocols, maintain a clean work area and participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.

Work collaboratively with engineering, quality and production teams to optimize processes and resolve production challenges.

QualificationsProven experience operating CNC machines (lathes and/or mills); strong understanding of CNC controls and G-code.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and specifications.

Proficiency with precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators and height gauges.

Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills and commitment to producing quality parts.

Ability to perform basic CNC programming or modify existing programs is preferred.

High school diploma or GED required; vocational training, technical certificate or related CNC certification is a plus.

Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weight and work in a manufacturing environment with appropriate PPE.
Nice-to-have:
hands-on experience in machining and broader manufacturing environments, familiarity with CAM software, lean/continuous improvement experience, and safety training (e.g., OSHA).
