Become part of our team and shape the future with us! Heraeus Quartz North America, LLC. has an immedaite opening for a talented Machinist II to join our Production team at our Wilmington, NC plant. The primary responsibility of the Machinist II is to produce quality parts by setting up and operating CNC equipment and maual machining, interpreting technical documentation, performing inspections, and maintaining a safe, efficient production process. This role applies established procedures and machining knowledge to resolve routine issues, support continuous improvement, and escalate problems requiring additional resources.Your Role and Responsibilities:
Program CNC machines at machine control. Monitor tool wear and adjust offsets / replace tools as needed. Produce parts according to standard operating procedures, production routers, engineering drawings, and work instructions. Interpret product requirements, process flows, dimensions, tolerances, and specifications. Set up CNC machines by selecting and loading appropriate tools, materials, fixtures, attachments, and accessories. Calculate dimensions, establish reference points, and verify tolerances using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, and indicators. Operate and oversee CNC machining processes to produce conforming products. Perform in-process and final inspections; measure and examine completed parts to identify defects and verify quality requirements. Record accurate production and quality information to support product traceability and compliance. Stop production and escalate issues that cannot be resolved within the expected timeframe or available resources. Clean equipment, perform basic preventive maintenance on CNC machines, tooling, and fixtures, and support continuous improvement efforts. Complete required orientation and training, including Heraeus Safety and Quality Management Systems, and follow all PPE requirements. What Is Required for theRole:
High school diploma or equivalent. At least three years of relevant machining experience or completion of a relevant CNC training program demonstrating the skills required for the role. Foundational Machinist I capabilities, including at least one year of machine operator experience and the ability to use precision measuring tools. Ability to read and follow work instructions, production routers, engineering drawings, and standard operating procedures. Ability to operate manual lathes to machine parts based on drawing specifications. Ability to perform CNC machine setups, including selecting and securing appropriate tools, fixtures, materials, and accessories. Ability to calculate dimensions, establish reference points, and verify tolerances using precision measuring instruments. Ability to make adjustments to exisiting programs as needed to meet part specifications. Strong knowledge of G and M codes.Preferred Qualification:
Knowlege of MasterCam or similar programming software Competed math courses up to Calculus level Understanding lean and 5S concepts Curious? Apply now!
