manufacturer) designs, manufactures and assembles electronic automotive and marine controls as well as multi-function display systems and LED lighting products. Located in Wilmington, NC, Sturdy Corporation has been a full-service provider of mechanical, electrical, electronic and software products for over 50 years. Operating from its "concept to completion" platform, the company has on-site capabilities to design, manufacture, validate and distribute quality products for the automotive, truck, marine, LED lighting and industrial markets. Sturdy Corporation is seeking a qualified Tool Room Machinist.
Job Duties:
Work from blueprints, sketches or computer aided designs to plan, layout, and construct a variety of tools, jigs, fixtures and gauges to close tolerances. Work with Engineering Design groups to help develop new product and manufacturing processes. Machinist must be capable of using manual machines such as Lathes, Milling Machines, and Grinders to construct a variety of precision components. The use of CNC machines is a plus but not a requirement. Machinist must be capable of verifying dimensions, sizes and shapes of close tolerance work pieces using various precision measuring devices. Tool Room Machinist may produce multiple quantities of the same part but more often will produce one-of-a-kind special parts used in the repair of broken machine components.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Good math, problem-solving, and computer skills are important. Machinist training and skills can be achieved through apprenticeship programs, vocation schools, community colleges or technical colleges and/or on the job training. Courses in math, blueprint reading, metal working, and drafting are all beneficial to the Tool Room Machinist. Normal work hours are Monday-Friday- 7:00am until 3:30pm, with overtime based on business needs. Study Corporation is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
