Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Manual Machinist (Lathe) to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will operate manual lathes to produce precision metal components, interpret complex blueprints, and ensure high-quality standards are maintained throughout the machining process. Your expertise will contribute to the creation of parts that meet strict specifications, supporting our commitment to excellence in manufacturing. Responsibilities Set up and operate manual lathes with precision, ensuring accurate machining of metal parts according to detailed blueprints and technical drawings Interpret mechanical blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and technical specifications to determine machining requirements Use measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to verify dimensions and ensure quality control Select and install appropriate tooling, including cutting tools, grinders, and fixtures, to optimize machining processes Perform machine setup procedures, including adjusting M-code commands for manual operations and ensuring proper alignment of workpieces Conduct quality inspections during and after machining using precision measuring instruments to verify adherence to specifications Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety protocols and properly handling power tools and hand tools Requirements Proven experience operating manual lathes with a strong understanding of machining tools and techniques Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and manufacturing specifications accurately Familiarity with measurement instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, micrometers, and coordinate measuring machines for quality assurance Knowledge of basic math skills necessary for precise measurements and calculations in machining tasks Understanding of machine setup procedures including tooling selection, calibration, and alignment for optimal performance Experience with blueprint reading, GD&T principles, and mechanical blueprint interpretation Basic knowledge of safety standards related to machine operation and handling power tools Mechanical knowledge related to metal machining processes including turning on CNC lathe machines or manual equipment is a plus but not mandatory Strong attention to detail with a focus on precision measurement in machining processes Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Join us if you're passionate about craftsmanship and eager to contribute your skills in a role that values precision engineering. $25.00 - $40.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
