Job Description
2nd Shift CNC Mill & Lathe Setup/Operator Join a Growing Manufacturing Team We are a growing company seeking experienced 2nd Shift CNC Mill and Lathe Setup/Operators to join our production team. This position is ideal for motivated machinists who take pride in precision work, problem-solving, and maintaining high-quality standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Position Summary The CNC Mill and Lathe Setup/Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC machining centers and lathes to produce precision parts that meet customer and quality specifications. Candidates must have strong setup experience and the ability to modify CNC programs as needed to improve efficiency and maintain quality standards. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes for production runs Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions Modify CNC programs and offsets as required Select and install tooling, fixtures, and machine attachments Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, gauges, and indicators Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain tolerances Troubleshoot machining and tooling issues Maintain production and quality documentation Follow all safety procedures and company policies Work collaboratively with supervisors, programmers, and quality personnel Qualifications Minimum of 2-5 years CNC setup and operating experience preferred Strong setup skills on CNC mills and/or lathes Ability to modify and edit CNC programs Experience with G-code and blueprint reading Knowledge of tooling, feeds, speeds, and machining practices Ability to hold tight tolerances and perform precision measurements Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills Reliable attendance and strong work ethic Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Experience with Fanuc or similar CNC controls Multi-axis machining experience Prior experience in a production machining environment Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally Frequent bending, reaching, and movement throughout the shift Schedule & Wages 2nd
