Lathe Operator - 2nd
Shift Pay:
$20.00 per hour

Claremore, OK Shift:
4:30 PM - 1:00

2 Positions Available Job Order #: 153031 Position Overview Stand-By Personnel is seeking two experienced Lathe Operators for a second-shift manufacturing opportunity in Claremore. This position is responsible for operating manual and/or CNC lathe machines to produce quality machined parts while maintaining established production, dimensional, safety, and quality standards. Candidates must have previous lathe-operating experience and be comfortable reading blueprints, following work instructions, inspecting finished components, and using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments. The ideal candidate has strong machine-shop experience, attention to detail, and the ability to independently monitor machine performance and make adjustments as needed. Required Experience & Skills
  • Previous lathe-operating experience required
  • Manual and/or CNC lathe experience
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Ability to follow technical drawings and work instructions
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments
  • Experience using calipers
  • Experience using micrometers
  • Ability to inspect finished machined parts
  • Ability to monitor machine performance
  • Ability to make applicable machine adjustments
  • Strong attention to dimensional accuracy and quality
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Reliable transportation required
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Operate manual and/or CNC lathe machines
  • Review blueprints and work instructions before machining
  • Load materials and components into equipment
  • Operate lathes according to production requirements
  • Monitor machining operations
  • Make applicable machine adjustments
  • Unload completed components
  • Inspect finished parts for quality and accuracy
  • Use calipers to verify dimensions
  • Use micrometers and other measuring tools
  • Identify out-of-specification components
  • Maintain established machining tolerances
  • Meet applicable production schedules
  • Maintain required quality standards
  • Report equipment or machining concerns promptly
  • Keep machines and surrounding work areas clean and organized
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures
  • Perform additional machining and production duties as assigned Lathe Operation Depending on equipment and production requirements, candidates may operate:
  • Manual lathes
  • CNC lathes
  • Other applicable turning equipment Responsibilities may include:
  • Loading materials
  • Machine operation
  • Monitoring production cycles
  • Making adjustments
  • Removing finished components
  • Inspecting completed parts
  • Maintaining consistent production output Blueprints & Work Instructions Candidates must be able to:
  • Read manufacturing blueprints
  • Interpret applicable drawings
  • Follow written work instructions
  • Identify required dimensions
  • Understand applicable machining requirements
  • Compare finished parts against specifications
  • Identify dimensional discrepancies Precision Measurement & Inspection Candidates should have hands-on experience using:
  • Calipers
  • Micrometers
  • Other precision measuring instruments Responsibilities include:
  • Performing in-process inspections
  • Measuring finished components
  • Verifying critical dimensions
  • Monitoring part consistency
  • Identifying out-of-tolerance conditions
  • Making or requesting appropriate adjustments
  • Maintaining accurate workmanship throughout production Machine Monitoring & Adjustments
  • Monitor lathe performance during production
  • Identify machining concerns
  • Make applicable machine adjustments
  • Monitor part quality after adjustments
  • Maintain required dimensions
  • Report significant equipment problems
  • Help minimize unnecessary downtime
  • Follow applicable machine-safety procedures Production & Quality Responsibilities
  • Meet established production schedules
  • Maintain required part quality
  • Balance production speed with dimensional accuracy
  • Inspect completed components consistently
  • Follow applicable specifications
  • Identify nonconforming parts
  • Communicate recurring machining or quality concerns
  • Maintain consistent workmanship throughout the shift Preferred Qualifications
  • CNC Lathe Operator experience
  • Manual Lathe Operator experience
  • Machinist experience
  • Manufacturing experience
  • Machine-shop experience
  • Precision machining experience
  • Advanced blueprint-reading skills
  • Caliper and micrometer experience
  • Experience maintaining machining tolerances
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, and material handling
  • Manual dexterity required for machine operation and precision measurement
  • Ability to safely handle raw materials and machined components
  • Comfortable performing repetitive machining and inspection work
  • Ability to safely work around lathes, tooling, metal components, and industrial machinery
  • Ability to wear all required PPE Work Environment
  • Industrial machining and manufacturing environment
  • Regular work around manual and/or CNC lathes, tooling, metal components, and measuring equipment
  • Hands-on position involving machine operation, inspection, adjustments, and production monitoring
  • Consistent 4:30 PM - 1:00 AM second-shift schedule
