Job Summary The CNC Machinist / CNC Programmer is responsible for setting up and operating machine tools to produce precision parts. This role requires a strong understanding of shop mathematics, machining procedures, CNC programming, and the ability to interpret technical drawings to ensure finished products meet specifications. Duties and Responsibilities Determine dimensions and tolerances as needed. Use basic measuring equipment, including micrometers and calipers. Machine parts according to specifications and technical drawings. Measure finished parts to identify defects and ensure conformance to specifications. Adjust equipment as necessary to achieve required output and quality. Monitor tool wear and replace tooling as needed during machine operation. Observe machine operation to identify necessary adjustments or repairs. Calculate dimensions and tolerances using basic mathematics. Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials. Set up and program machines to fabricate parts based on provided work orders and drawings. Select appropriate speeds and feeds based on the material being machined to maximize efficiency. Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary adjustments to ensure quality results. Fully program G-code, M-code, and conversational controllers for either a CNC lathe or CNC mill. Required Experience Minimum of 3 years of experience programming CNC lathes or CNC mills. Minimum of 3 years of experience with G-code, M-code, and conversational CNC programming. Experience setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC machinery. Education High school diploma or GED preferred. Secondary technical training preferred, such as CNC programming courses through a career and technical center (CTC) or technical school.

Read and interpret written instructions, technical documents, and work-related drawings.
Equipment Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance checks, including monitoring coolant and way-lubrication levels, while maintaining a clean and organized work area. Working Conditions Work is performed in a production plant environment with limited exposure to dust, noise, fumes, temperature changes, and mechanical, electrical, chemical, or other hazards. Frequent lifting of materials weighing up to 50 pounds is required. Use of cranes is necessary for moving parts weighing more than 50 pounds.
