Job Description
Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. May also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. Requires certain certifications in the field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Typically reports to a supervisor/manager.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintain general shop safety and cleanliness. 2. Perform general machine shop functions. 3. Performing machining operations with limited supervision. 4. Set up and operate all support equipment (i.e.: saws, sanders, shears and drills). 5. Set up manual milling machine. 6. Any other work related duties assigned by the Supervisor of Production Services.Job Requirements:
1. Has interest and is willing to learn the machine shop trade. 2. Must demonstrate reliability through good attendance and work ethic. 3. Must have practical arithmetic skills. 4. Must have the ability to follow directions and work under direct supervision. 5. Must demonstrate experience level comparable to 0-2 years of vocational tech training. 6. Must have the ability to read and understand shop drawings and blueprints. 7. Must be able to produce acceptable quantity and quality of parts. 8. Ability to work independently and still function as a team player. 9. Must be able and willing to be utilized to do any other JMC related work.
