Monday-Friday, 6:30 a.m•3:00 p.m. Job Summary We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist II to independently set up and operate CNC milling and turning equipment in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for accurate machine setup, tooling adjustments, first-article inspections, and producing quality parts to required specifications. The Machinist II will troubleshoot setup and machining issues, work closely with programming and production teams to improve quality and efficiency, and maintain accurate setup and tooling documentation. The ideal candidate will have strong machining knowledge, problem-solving skills, an understanding of G-code, and experience using precision measurement and inspection equipment. Responsibilities Work effectively in a self-directed team environment while independently identifying and resolving problems. Set up and operate CNC mills and CNC lathes according to production schedules and work orders with minimal supervision. Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and manufacturing instructions. Load and adjust cutting tools, set tool offsets, and verify tool paths through simulation or dry runs. Install and accurately align fixtures, vises, and stock materials. Perform first-article inspections and make necessary machine or tooling adjustments to meet required tolerances. Troubleshoot setup and machining issues involving tooling, programming, or machine parameters. Collaborate with programmers and other machinists/operators to improve setup times, part quality, and overall production efficiency. Maintain accurate records related to machine setups, tooling requirements, and part specifications. Understand and make basic G-code modifications, including adjustments to speeds, feeds, and taper compensation. Use precision measuring equipment such as micrometers and calipers, as well as optical inspection equipment such as SmartScope or similar systems. Monitor dimensional and visual characteristics to identify potential non-conformances. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable health and environmental regulations. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications 5+ years of CNC machining experience with mills and lathes. 3+ years of CNC setup experience with multi-axis equipment, including live tooling, mills, lathes, or grinding equipment. 2+ years of experience working in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment. High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to read work orders and understand customer and production specifications. Ability to maintain drawing specifications and identify dimensional or visual non-conformances. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently. Understanding of CNC machining principles and G-code. Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of proper workplace safety procedures. Strong work ethic, attention to detail, reliable attendance, and flexibility to work overtime as needed.
