Certification:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational machining coursework or completion of an apprenticeship program preferred. Key Responsibilities Sets up and operates CNC and manual machines for moderately complex parts and multi-operation jobs with minimal supervision. Edits existing CNC programs (offsets, speeds/feeds, minor toolpath adjustments) to correct issues or improve cycle time; does not typically write programs from scratch. Performs in-process and first-article inspection using standard precision instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, basic CMM operation). Selects and adjusts tooling and work-holding for the job at hand; identifies and corrects common tooling wear or setup issues. Assists in training Level C and D machinists on machine operation and shop procedures. Flags recurring quality or process issues to a Level A machinist or supervisor and helps implement fixes. Required Skills Strong blueprint and GD&T reading ability. Working knowledge of CAM/CNC control software sufficient to edit and optimize programs. Solid precision measurement skills and understanding of tolerancing. Good judgment on when to solve a problem directly versus escalating it.
Supervision:
Works under general supervision; may provide informal guidance to Level C/D machinists but has no formal authority over them.
Pay:
