Job Description
1.0 DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position operates numerical control machine to cut, shape or form metal workpieces to predetermined specifications.Specific responsibilities may include:
- Ensures that set-up and machining sequence are in accordance with specifications.
- May load control media, such as tape, punch card or disc into machine control console, or may enter commands to retrieve preprogrammed machine instructions from stored database.
- Manipulates controls and enters commands to index cutting tools to specified set point and to start machine.
- Observes and listens to machine operation to detect malfunctions and tool wear.
- Replaces or regrinds tooling when necessary.
- Measures workpiece for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial calipers and/or gages.
- Notifies supervisor of discrepancies.
- May adjust machine feed and speed and change cutters to machine parts according to specifications when automatic programming is faulty or when machine malfunctions.
- May clean machine, tooling and parts.
- Other duties as assigned.
AND TRAINING
- High School diploma /GED minimum 2.2 EXPERIENCE
- Pipe and pipe fitting manufacturing experience preferred 2.
AND SKILLS
- Able to read a 12" scale to 1/32" increments and read a dial caliper and/or micrometer to 0.001".
- Knowledge of our products and processes
- Able to read and understand dimensional tolerances shown on blueprints or drawings.
- Able to discern tool wear limits and to replace tooling to achieve dimensional tolerance specifications.
AND SAFETY
- Able to stand, sit and/or walk for up to 3 hours at a time.
- Able to exert 20 to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 10 to 25 lbs. of force frequently and/or constantly move objects weighing up to 10 lbs. Must be able to lift a 35 lb. object vertically 3 foot high.
- Must comply with any safety or PPE requirements.
- Exposure to production environment.
- Exposure to hot and cold weather. 3.0 OTHER
