Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Machinist specializing in Precision CNC Large Parts to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will operate and program large-scale CNC machines to produce complex, high-precision components for custom industrial machinery. Your expertise in machining large parts with meticulous attention to detail will ensure the highest quality standards are met while maintaining efficient production workflows. Responsibilities Set up, operate, and program CNC milling machines and lathes to manufacture large precision parts according to detailed blueprints and technical specifications Interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and blueprints to ensure accurate machining processes Utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to verify part dimensions and tolerances Perform routine maintenance on CNC equipment, including electrical discharge machining (EDM) tools and CAM programming adjustments for optimal performance Select appropriate tooling and fixtures; troubleshoot machining issues promptly to minimize downtime Collaborate with engineers on CNC programming using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software like SolidWorks or other CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) systems Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols involving hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, forklifts, and other machinery Qualifications Proven experience operating CNC milling machines and CNC lathes in a heavy-duty manufacturing environment Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages such as Fanuc or similar control systems Skilled in reading and interpreting complex blueprints and GD&T specifications Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes including plastics injection molding when applicable Proficiency with CAD software like SolidWorks and general blueprint reading skills Ability to use precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM), tooling selection, and setup procedures Basic math skills necessary for precise measurements and calculations Experience working with large parts in a high-bay facility using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and lifting devices such as forklifts Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles to promote efficiency and waste reduction Join us at West Engineering Co., Inc. where your expertise will directly contribute to creating innovative heavy-duty industrial machinery.
