Category Nursing - RN-Stepdown Job Type Travel Nestled in the welcoming city of Ashland, VA, this travel assignment places you at the heart of a vibrant community rich with history, natural beauty, and small-town charm. Schedule:
12-hour nights Every other weekend & major holidays required Potential for weekend block scheduling Working in the Cardio-Pulmonary Progressive Care Unit, you'll deliver high-acuity care for patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring, manage intricate cardiac and insulin drips, and respond confidently to dynamic patient conditions. This experience offers not only clinical depth but also valuable exposure to diverse teams and high-level nursing leadership, making a substantial addition to your professional credentials.
Qualifications:
Active RN license (state-eligible or compact) Minimum 1 year of RN experience, with acute care preferred BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Proficient in reading/validating cardiac rhythm strips, lab draws, and peripheral IV starts Skilled with Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Nitroglycerin, and Amiodarone titration (no vasopressors) Experience with BiPAP and insulin drips Must pass EKG exam at orientation Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop flexible care plans Manage medications and technology (e.g., Alaris pumps, PCA, GlucoStabilizer) Float as required within assigned skillset to ICU, Med/Surg, and ED Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and participate in ongoing quality improvement Advocate for patients and families, addressing psychosocial needs and supporting optimum outcomes
